Showing one another goodwill during everyday living is a life's purpose that we can all share, and one that can make all our lives so much more meaningful. We address the meaning of modern life through many diverse beliefs, yet we all know suffering, so we can all see a purpose in alleviating it in others. Not that we should try to be totally selfless though, for such isn't even possible. Rather, the idea is simply to treat each other thoughtfully, based on sympathy, empathy, and no desired rewards nor punishments. For then we'll feel good just knowing that we're helping others to so feel, and our purpose in helping others will feel just right.

Nox Arcana, Joseph Vargo, and Monolith Graphics continue to serve up a wonderful assortment of scary and darkly romantic works. A couple of story anthologies make for great reading, while Nox Arcana even provides music, and truly artful music at that, suited for focused listening rather than just the background. With other items available as well--including Vargo's lavish artwork--the works of Vargo, Nox Arcana, and Monolith Graphics are just perfect for when a little gothic romanticism feels right.

People should lighten up about menstruation and become more accepting of it. Cultural attitudes dictate otherwise--forcing many women to unduly conceal it, and making many men routinely avoid it--yet it's such a prominent feature of women's lives that they could really use support rather than disdain over it from the people they're close to. Indeed, if only everyone was better accepting of it, women would never have to feel embarrassed or ashamed over it, but rather could simply feel loved and accepted. Such would bring women and men closer together.

Not all rap is about killing, cheap sex, and negative attitudes; some avoids those things in favor of positive subject matter. Take the duo Blackalicious, for instance, and the solo work of their emcee, Gift of Gab. Not only are Gab's lyrics generally positive, they're often cerebral, occasionally affective, and sometimes just plain fun. So even if you don't like rap for its general style, consider Blackalicious and the Gift of Gab, if only to recall this often-overlooked, brighter side of hip-hop.

Although extraterrestrials are certainly out there, maintaining social relationships with them could be impossible due to the barriers involved. Just for contact, aliens must be nearby or capable of deep travel, and for maintaining relationships, we must share an adequate social basis. Differing environmental requirements; senses for perceiving the world; psychologies for understanding the world; and scientific advances; may, however, preclude such a basis. Thus the vision of an eventual inter-species community may be unrealistic, and so we may always remain functionally alone no matter how prevalent extraterrestrials are.

In solving our illegal immigration problem, we need to secure the border once and for all, but also allow remaining immigrants to legally stay. Illegal immigration is causing legitimate problems, yet many illegal immigrants come here just to better themselves, and help our economy in the process. Hence we should guarantee permanent resident status to everyone already here, once the border has been secured, simply on condition that they aren't felons. Immigration has historically made us stronger, and so it will again, but only at its best if we act now with such a fair and sensitive plan.

We should spend less time worrying about our deaths, of which are knowledge is necessarily incomplete, and more time on living our lives. Because paranormal phenomena often contradict science and reason, if they're genuine, there must be a reality greater than our own, yet to learn about such a reality would be as impossible as people in a computer trying to learn about the real world. Thus our knowledge of a potential hereafter is greatly limited to arguments from assumptions, and, perhaps, to broad recognition of it at best.

To truly appreciate the music of Elvis Presley, you need to acknowledge all the hardship he endured over it. For Elvis's fame was such that his own interests were too often neglected by managers and obsessive fans alike, denying him control in his career, and privacy and freedom in his life. In fact he eventually turned to prescription drug abuse over his unhappiness, and so his health deteriorated until he lost his very life. Yet he still managed to produce outstanding music, and therein you begin to see how much talent he truly had. For Elvis was indeed the King, for all he went through in sharing his talent.

God would never ask for our faith and obedience under threat of eternal condemnation, and nor would He ask for our rigid belief in any one religion or religious text. For such orders wouldn't accord with liberty and free thought, qualities any good superior seeks in their subordinates, of which God must be the supreme example. Instead, as the Creator He would want us to develop our potential to the fullest, as through the study of science and philosophy and such, unfettered by religious dogma. For only then could He see His Creation truly enacted.

Abortion of non-aware fetuses and embryos should remain available. Such fetuses seemingly aren't harmed by abortion, because never having awareness of their lives whether before, during, or after existence, they don't have to live with loss or non-attainment if aborted. Hence there's no reason to withhold abortions from women who seek them and seemingly have a right to them. Yet it's reasonable though substantially unproven that people including fetuses have souls that survive death, and this casts a little doubt on the morality of abortion. Thus it should remain available so that individual women can reach their own conclusions about it.
